Biodiversity of the Far Eastern Region

"Red-book" Species Content

Sericinus montela amurensis

Ciconia boyciana

Species entered into the Red Book are the most vulnerable part of biological communities, wellbeing of which entirely depends on the timely conservation measures.
The highest content of the "red-book" species is observed in biofilota of the most disturbed areas of the southernmost part of the Far-Eastern ecoregion within the bounds of subpacific and evpacific broad-leaved forests: on average 15% among all the three model groups of organisms taken for integral ecosystem analysis. This indicator is slightly lower in evpacific sub-broad-leaved forests (13% on average). Even less "red-book" species are registered in the evpacific sub-boroad-leaved forests of Middle Priamurie and Western Primorie (11% on average). In the northern areas of this ecoregion the content of such species rarely exceeds 6-7%.
