Lepidoptera Diurna the Far-Eastern list of which comprises 307 species, were chosen as another model group for the territorial assessment of the biological richness in the Far-Eastern ecoregion. The group consists of two hyperfamilies: Hesperionoidea and Papilionoidea.
Since the distribution of Diurnal Lepidoptera is considerably determined by geographic zoning, the main centers of species abundance are compactly concentrated at the southernmost area of the region within broad-leaved and partially within sub-broad-leaved forests in Primorie and in the southern part of Khabarovsky Krai. The richness of Diurnal Lepidoptera can be also observed in the dispersed subcontinental sub-broad-leaved forests of Amur-Zeya Plateau and subcontinental southern taiga of the south macrodeclivity of Tukuringr and Dzhagda Mountain Ranges.
